This role sits at the intersection of engineering design, field commissioning, and technical leadership across full lifecycle automation projects.
The Lead Robotics & Controls Engineer will design, program, and commission advanced industrial automation systems, including robotic cells, PLC-based control systems, and SCADA platforms. This role provides technical leadership across project lifecycles—from concept and simulation through installation and startup—while also mentoring engineering staff and interfacing directly with customers and vendors. The position requires deep hands-on expertise in robotics, controls integration, and industrial automation systems.
Design, program, and commission PLC and robotic control systems for industrial automation applications
Develop high-performance automation solutions focused on reliability, efficiency, and scalability
Program and configure industrial robots including FANUC, ABB, Epson, and/or KUKA systems
Build robotic workcells from concept through deployment, including robot selection, layout design, and offline programming
Lead onsite installation, integration, and commissioning at customer manufacturing facilities
Conduct system testing and validation to ensure compliance with design specifications and performance requirements
Design and implement Ignition SCADA systems for industrial monitoring and control
Integrate conveyance systems, pick-and-place robotics, material handling systems, and end-of-arm tooling
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution
Troubleshoot and resolve control system and robotic integration issues in both development and production environments
Support safety and risk analysis activities including PFMEAs and functional safety considerations
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience in industrial robotics and controls engineering
Strong experience programming PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and/or Mitsubishi)
Hands-on experience with industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Epson, or similar)
Proven ability to design and deploy robotic cells from concept through commissioning
Experience with material handling systems, conveyance, pick-and-place systems, and EOAT design
Proficiency in SCADA system design, specifically Ignition
Strong communication skills with ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams
Demonstrated leadership ability in technical environments
